When I saw this I couldn't pass it up How interesting to read a soldiers night before ChristmasI'm disappointed at how comic y the soldiers lookThey leave a boot and helmet at the end of the bunks for 'Santa of Soldiers''When outside the tent there arose such a clatter I sprang from my rack to see what was the matter'Funny how he yelled what was that crash?I like the Blackhawks Humvees and jeeps showing upThen Sergeant McClaus gets outI like the names he called out instead of reindeerOne camo shape looks like a glove on his shoulder'With a Santa hat added for this special night'This Santa is a lot different 66 ft tall his nose is crooked his jaw hard as bricks That's funny the original one says something encircled santa's head like a wreath and in here it's cigar smokeThe soldiers' face is funny when Santa comes in and he's looking out the windowWhen the sarge came into the tent there were three beds with the MC being right at the door On the next page there 4 beds again with him being two down from the endI see what a seabag is Those green dufflesHis feet are freakishly longIt mentions all the food is homemade people sent phone cards so they could hear the voices of their loved onesPictures artworkI like how he spots him and he thinks he saw a twinkle and 'a small smile or instead just a wrinkle? To the top of his brow he raised up his hand And gave a salute that made me feel grand'Aw he's blushing'As the camp radar lost him I heard this faint callHappy Christmas Brave Soldiers May Peace Come to AllThis was cute Wish it had been longerAt times it followed along just like the regular one and others I had no idea where we were in the poem and thought we were running out of space and wouldn't cover the whole thing this would be perfect to send to the soldiers in a Christmas care package

This was such a uniue idea I loved the information about the base and sentries guarding it and dreaming of back home One slept with the letters his family had sent It was such a cute idea that they left one boot and their helmet on the floor for Santa of Soldiers I wish the illustrations had been better because they were so cartoonish they made the people look weird I didn't like when the writing was too close to the original poem I sprang from my rack to see what was the matter Away to the window I flew like a flash It was funny though when he yelled What was that crash? It was cool his one of their Blackhawks gave the all clear and heir Humvees were decorated It gave it a special military touch that Santa was named Sergeant McClaus and he shouted out Cohen Mendoza Woslowski McCord Li Watts Donetti and Specialist Ford I liked how it showed all of the different ethnicities in the military The soldier looked so hideous with those huge feet like paddles Come on why would you want his feet to look like that? It was so cool how the author hit on what soldiers really want Christmas from home with homemade treats and phone cards pictures and drawings It was cute how they saluted each other and he yelled Happy Christmas brave soldiers May peace come to all as the camp radar lost him I wonder why he didn't say Merry Christmas

Katharina loved this because it bridged her idea of bootcamp with some concrete images of soldiers and deployment

I got this book for my daughter who was very young when her daddy left for Afghanistan It was her first Christmas and this was read to her every night before she went to sleep the month of December She loved the story and she loved the illustration I use to be in the army myself and I too enjoyed both the story line and illustration When my husband returned home we showed him the book and he got a kick out of it We are very happy to have found this book and it will forever be apart of our Christmas collection

A Christmas present from my sister I have been mopey because my soldier son is away from home at Christmas for the very first time but at least he is in the states and I can call him and text him and I know he's safe God Bless all those soldiers who are far away from home during Christmas and I hope that Sgt McClaus brought them everything they wanted

This was a delightful book Not uite as delightful as The Navy's Night Before Christmas Not just because I'm partial to the Navy and my family's Naval heritage including WWII and Vietnam There was a glaring error twice mid book calling an Army duffle bar a Seabag is like calling a Medic a Corpsman Perhaps the later edition 2011 corrected the error

A sweet adorable twist on a classic Christmas story This one about overseas soldiers' night before Christmas It allows kids to see that their loved ones celebrate Christmas even when they're some place else in the world Some may get teary eyed while others will laugh out loud as they see that even soldiers get a visit from Santa himself

Great book for military families I found it while serving overseas and read it to my kids every Christmas and though I am out of the military it helps us remember my brothers and sisters who are still fighting to keep us free and may be apart from their families
