I’ve enjoyed the other books in this series and I loved this premise I really liked Marian and Nate She’s looking for a way out and is super loyal to her family He’s bored and needs a challenge Together they have loads of chemistry but not much of a connection I liked Marian’s sisters and I was intrigued about Nate’s friend but we didn’t get to know too much about anyone else Plot wise it was good I would have liked banter and conversation They were a match physically but didn’t really talk too much The “lessons” uickly evolved into a relationship but their interactions didn’t and it felt like there were plot threads that were introduced for no reason The conflict was resolved fairly uickly and even though I wanted a lot from the epilogue it was good Overall it was uick read with characters I really liked If there’s another book in this series I’ll be reading it Huge thanks to Avon Books for providing the arc free of charge

Going to give this a 45 stars because it was too short towards the end I didn't feel like the couple had been with each other enough to really grow that kind of love But i really loved the story overall

There is nothing even remotely romantic about this book I kept going hoping something would change but nope It's lust and lack of choice that drives this bookDesperate to keep her brother in school give her sisters a chance in the world and pay off her father's debts Marian Langley asks the Duke of Warrington to train her in sexual acts so she can become a courtesan Now I get that Marian is desperate and proud but for some reason this option is higher on her list than begging for help from her former charge Lady Clara who we're told towards the end for some reason is fond of Marian and would have helped This doesn't make the slightest bit of sense Sure her siblings would have had money but they never would have been accepted into respectable society right? Marian's idea is brought on by the widow in town everyone knows used to be a courtesan but that's hardly the same situation An older retired courtesan is a different thing than a new young working oneAnyway this plot relies entirely on Marian skipping at least one sensible decision first so already we're on shaky groundThen there's Nate the duke He's emotionally cut off which I've ranted about before Project Duchess if you're wondering Other than that he has zero personality or anything that makes me like him It's a sob story background neglectful parents bullied by his classmates dead wife who only wanted his title in place of actual characterization He agrees to tutor her only after he's given a dare by someone who works for him; another side note these characters don't have actual friends Nate explicitly says that and we never see any with MarianSo he tutors her And she's just so gorgeous in bed he kicks her out but then he can't stay awayrolls eyesThis book then comes to its crashing awful unsatisfactory conclusion because character development is for characters with personality and romance development is for actual romances It literally doesn't feel like we're in the final stretches by the way I was seriously disturbed when I realized the story was nearly over It was pretty easy to read so I was just going along and not paying attention to the progress bar I should have I might have realized I should have tempered my expectations a few chapters ago There is nothing romantic about the end Marian is caught between three eually awful choices And yes I consider Nate an awful choice since he never showed a care about her And then all of a sudden they're in love and we have a happy epilogue and I'm left wondering who the fuck read this and went yep sounds like a good romance to me Sex and attraction are not euivalent to love and I don't know what's appealing about a man who takes advantage of a woman in a bad predicament

This has to be one of the stupidest premises ever Former governess for a duchess is so desperate she’s willing to turn to prostitution and needs lessons You’re telling me she was too proud to ask her for help but being a whore was okay? Gross There were so many things that made absolutely NO SENSE in this story Ugh So just skip to the steamy parts because they’re super hot and that saved it The end

I WON A KINDLE EDITON OF THE DUKES STOLEN BRIDE FROM THE GOODREADS GIVEWAY Marian Langley is head of her family Since her father the village doctor died a year ago leaving them in poverty She decides to become a courtesan and seeks out training on love making with the NathanielNate The Duke of Warrington Marian's lesson turn hot and heavy and the two of them decide to take this further But there is one person in the town who wants to marry Marian the disgusting stinky Mr Lawrence He finds out about the affair Marian is having with the Duke and blackmails her She must marry him or he will ruin her Well Nate is Not having itThis was an enjoyable fast pace story with delightful characters The only thing I didn't like was the kidnapping and physical abuse at the end Physical Abuse hitting and beating women is not necessary in a romance story on any level The other thing I don't like is Spinster as the heroine HR authors have run this in the ground I am sick of Spinsters stories

Marian Langley has found herself in dire times and she is restless in all the work she is doing to protect her now impoverished family With time she comes to the decision to become a courtesan but first she needs someone to help her become skilled in the art of seduction and goes to an old friend and former courtesan to ask if she can recommend someone for the task; and her friend tells her that as she was already acuainted with Nathaniel Duke of Warrington to ask him for the help He first says no to the proposition but later rethinks his decision as he is already intrigued by her and they come to an agreement Their feelings only seems to grow with each time they are together and after a abusive men discover the true nature of their connections and threatens her with marriage in a way that she feels forced to accept because of her care for her sisters and younger brother Nate discovers this and instead of letting her have such a cruel fate with the horrible men goes to talk to her and ask her to elope with him instead They marry and are happy until some insecurities from the past cause a little trouble with them and to worse things up the bad men reappears in a uest for vengeance and they have to find a way to freed themselves once and for all from the man and resolve the issues in the marriage so they can find a way to their ever after This was such a incredible and entertaining story i loved the couple and was rooting for their happiness I received an free arc copy of this book from the publisher in exchange of an honest review

I stopped reading historical romance voraciously many years ago even since all stories had Dukes as main characters Not that I don't like a duke like anybody else it's just that I disliked how every single peer HAD to be a duke You see the first Duke I read in HR was the Duke of Bewcastle the head of the Bedwyn family in the Bedwyn saga That character for BUILT for 6 books and he was so powerful and a force to be reckon with In my mind him being a duke was paramount to who he was to his story and that of his siblings So that's why now that I'm in a HR kick I'll start my reviews of any book with a duke by answering the uestion Does the hero really needs to be a Duke? TM meaning could the story work out if he was any other peer? And if he was I'll demote him to something elseTo get us started Does Nate really need to be a Duke here? The answer is no He just doesn't meet Rule #1 of Regency Dukes Everybody is in awe of a Regency Duke Commoners Other peers They're just below royalty for God's sake Nate could have been a Viscount and the story wouldn't have changed one whit The Duke's Stolen Bride was ok The backstories of the main characters were run of the mill and Nate was too emo for my taste I mean the guy in his 30s and he was complaining about he didn't have friends he was bullied at school his stepfather didn't like him yada yada another reason why he wasn't Duke materialRule #2 of Regency Dukes say Duke's don't whine no matter how bad they have it Marian on the other hand was too 21st century She wanted to be independent so she'd rather be a prostitute that marrying a fat guy I know the fat guy wasn't appealing but the life of a prostitute was glamorized a bit too much As a prostitute it's likely that she'd have to sleep with lots of fat old ugly violent and odorous men I don't know how that was a better choiceThe only good thing about the book was the chemistry between the leads Once they got going with the lessons both were so into each other that they would practically combust when they saw each other The anticipation the lust the passion were palpable Not sure if I'll continue reading the series
