In this suspenseful novel set in New York of 1777 the events swirling around the Battles of Saratoga propel a young American girl into a dramatic test of her courage loyalty and love When a secret letter falls int. I have read this twice once probably when I was in middle school and then probably while I was in high schoolThe romance in here had me loving this book and considering it one of my favorites because I loved anything with romantic elements I remember there were two guys that liked her one was red haired and ended up going off to war The other was the guy who drove the wagon of goods around She liked him but something caused her to think that he was a spy for the enemy army so she was suspicious of him Somehow she intercepted a note and cut it up and put it in the buttons of her dress She went to deliver it to someone prominent in the army at an inn and had to cut the buttons off her dress which caused a commotion At the end the poor other guy saw her with the wagon guy and knew she loved him instead I felt so bad for him Wagon guy realized she had thought he was a spy and that explained her behavior towards him during the wagon ride Also she milked her cow at one point and I think made a comment about her hands being cold That's all I really remember

I really enjoyed this historical fiction novel about the Battle of Saratoga during the Revolutionary War It's about Amity age 16 whose Dad joins the Patriot Army and some of the things that happened to her and her family I learned uite a bit I think it would be appropriate for 5th grade and up

This book tells the story of a girl who embarks on a journey to deliver a letter to the Continental Army It is a story about bravery courage and loyalty This story shows some of the major events from the Revolutionary War from the perspective of a civilian girl who would probably not have had any involvement with the war if not for her mission to deliver the letter to the army This book will also give students an idea of what events took place during the American Revolution This title is considered a 71 reading level which means that eighth grade history teachers could use it as a supplement to their lessons about the Revolutionary War It could also be used in eighth grade Englishliterature classes as a way to tie what the students are learning in history into what they are learning in English
